YUL / MTL : Moving Landscape, recipient of the CSLA 2016 Excellence Awards

The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) has unveiled the names of the 2016 winners of its awards of excellence. The Chair in Landscape and Environmental Design and the UNESCO Chair (CUPEUM) at the Université de Montréal are pleased to announce that a national award was given to Philippe Poullaouec-Gonidec, Sylvain Paquette and Patrick Marmen for the book YUL/MTL: Moving Landscapes, recently published in french and English by Applied Researh + Design Publishing. 

This publication reports the results of a research conducted in close collaboration with members of the work table on the Autoroute 20 international gateway corridor for Montreal-Trudeau Airport (YUL) to the downtown core (MTL). 

This unique research demonstrates the importance of creative engagement in collaborative local and regional planning processes. The book illustrates how the results of an international ideas competition and an urban design workshop have united stakeholders’ viewpoints, and allow for implementation of a strategic development vision. As an outcome of the research, the design guidelines are now an essential tool for the redevelopment of a major highway entrances to the City of Montreal.
